Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actor from Manama, Bahrain and was born into a multi-ethnic household. Jacqueline's dad Elroy Fernandez, is Sri Lankan. She has two younger brothers and one older sister. She was raised and born in Bahrain. The family of her parents relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil within Sri Lanka. She was given a scholarship to go to an undergraduate program at the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia after she had completed her studies in Bahrain. An avid lover of different cultures and different languages, she enrolled in Berlitz Language School in which she learned Spanish and honed her French and Arabic. In 2006, she won the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006. She also participated in Miss Universe 2006. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she entered the world of TV and anchored a show about Sri Lanka's business, called Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter and badminton world champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore, but she came from Copenhagen. As a teenager she competed in national championships of badminton at both the regional and international levels. However, she left the sport to pursue a career as a designer. Padukone is of Mangalorean origin, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone is a village in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is an ex-badminton player with world-class fame, while her mother works as a travel agent.
